No, my application still just says "submitted," but FirstGroup has just advertised the same position again, so I'm now getting a bit worried and confused - should we take this as a rejection? Should I bother applying again?

Normally with rail jobs you can’t apply twice for the same role within 6 months I imagine it would just get filtered out. I assume they want more applications to fill vacancies I wouldn’t take it as rejection.
It would however be nice to get some kind of response or update from TPE saying there has been a delay.
