Hey,

First Post so please be nice :). So a couple of years ago i decided what i wanted todo with my life was to be a train driver, i have worked with trains/Locomotives for my entire career and currently building the Northern Arriva Trains. I was wondering if there is a certain time of the year in which companies advertise Trainee Train driver positions or is it when they need them?

Thank You for your time.

Not really , it’s more when they need to meet demand etc.
Check the train operator sites daily as adverts can come and go very quickly

Most companies will have some kind of recruitment every year (no specific date unfortunately) weather it be for qualified or trainee’s.
just gotta keep an eye on their career sites and this forum, majority of them have email alerts these days so just make sure they aren’t going into your junk folder and just sit back and wait

Hi,

As others have said, most TOCs and FOCs do large recruitment drives and then don't recruit for a while.

It's best to check your local TOCs and FOCs websites - REGULARLY! Jobs get taken down when there have been enough applications - even before the closing date! There was one job which was taken down after less than 36 hours! Check every day! Or at least every other day!

However, some TOCs and FOCs on their careers websites allow you to set up automated alerts. Set these up and make sure that they go to an e-mail account you check regularly (preferably where you get push notifications on your phone)!

Finally, most (but not all) jobs are posted here on this forum by members - and, again, you can set up e-mail notifications to new threads on the careers forum!

Good luck!
