Main Purpose
Driving a train is a highly disciplined job with strict rules and regulations. The safety of our customers and employees is paramount at all times.
Safety and customer service are always our highest priorities, and so our drivers need to be flexible, happy to go the extra mile, ready to adapt at short notice, and be positive, proactive and professional.
To be a Train Driver you need to have good eyesight, speed and distance perception, and perfect colour vision. You will also need to be fit enough to climb in and out of cabs from platform or trackside, and have a long attention span.You should consider the impact of being a train driver on your family and social life, with irregular hours and some weekend work required. There will, however, be rostered days off to break up extreme shift change patterns where applicable.To be considered for this role, you must live within 45 minutes travelling distance of your depot (taking into consideration that shifts can start as early as 04:00 and finish as late as 03:00).The minimum age limit for driver applications is 21;
This role is classified as safety critical.
Remuneration
Training Salary raises throughout the training programme. It starts at £23,678 going up to £31,708 before becoming a fully productive driver on £49,776.
Shift Pattern
This is a full time position with shift patterns across a full 24 hour period. Once qualified you will work an average 4 day week.
Minimum Requirements
These roles are highly sort after and as such we will receive far more applications than we have positions for. You will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the Train Driver's role, their accountabilities and the key behaviours we expect of our Train Drivers.
