I've just bought a copy of the 2004 version of the above title. It's compatible with Vista but doesn't state if it will work on Windows 7.

Does anybody know if it's windows 7 compatible?

I attempted to install it but kept throwing up errors. Tried it in capability mode but came up with same errors.

I'm taking back to the shop as I suspect the disc is scratched so I'll just swap it for another copy.

Trainz 2004??!??!!

It will work on Windows 7, as I did the same, but I changed for a more up to date simulator a very long time ago. Why not get the 2006 or 2006 version? If you have a 7 computer, they should all work without any problems, but Trainz 2004 is way past its sell by date and the amount of extra content you can obtain will be scarce.

TRS2004 comes with two discs, have you run them both when prompted and entered the serial number on the inside of the box set? Sometimes my laptop would tell me to install the latset motherboard drivers but the game still worked perfectly well.

I recommend you go for a newer Trainz version, even MSTS will be full of downloadable UK routes. And having looked the game up on Amazon, the reviews don't seem very favourable either.

I suspect I have a faulty cd, cd1 has a load of scratches on it.

I was thinking of making my netbook dualboot, I do have Msts knocking about with the East Coast part 2 add-on.

The only content you can get is from 3rd party sites. I think the DLS can't be used by people who just have 2004 now, along with a few of the newer ones as well.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with 2004. The only people I know who still use it are those who have been using it for years and don't want to get any of the newer ones.

Yeah I took it back got an exchange tried it again, but didn't work. So I took it back and got a refund. It was only £1.99 or 3 for £5 so I got £1.67 back as the other 2 games worked.

I've now ordered Ea's Rail sim.

The only way to get around that is to also have a supported version also as I do. I download content in 2006 even though it is no longer supported by.
