Could anyone tell me if TPE still offer the first class upgrade at weekends for £7 between any two stations?

Thanks

Yes, but £6 for most routes.

A First Class option is available. Holders of First Class tickets are entitled to complimentary tea/coffee/water and a biscuit on services where catering is provided.

Holders of Standard Class tickets may upgrade to First Class on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays on payment of a £6.00 single journey supplement to the Conductor between any two train stations on the First TransPennine route network. (On our Manchester to Edinburgh and Manchester to Glasgow train services the single journey supplement is £10.00).

Customers holding a valid Season Ticket may make their normal daily journey in First Class at weekends at no extra cost.

You missed one important bit:

Customers holding a valid Season Ticket may make their normal daily journey in First Class at weekends at no extra cost on First TransPennine Express services. Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) season tickets, for example, MetroCards, do not qualify for the weekend first class upgrade.

It dosn't say that bit on the page I was looking at. It just stops after "...no extra cost" :(

Somehow, on that same page, under the "Season Ticket" section, it does say that extra bit, but the same details under the "First Class and Weekend First" heading it just stops as you say and does not mention the PTE invalidity. Surely these could be interpreted differently(?)

The conductor on my service was awesome. Even though I was going to Scotland, he only charged me the £6 :D

Since when is "awesome" another word for "incompetent"?

Maybe he was being kind (albeit doing his job wrongly) or perhaps he made a mistake. Either way it doesn't come under incompetency. Despatching on a red is incompetent.

I believe there are now posters up in first class advising on the upgrade and the use of First Class if you hold a season ticket.

However the season ticket must be a monthly, 3 monthly or annual season ticket. A weekly ticket holder must pay the £6 upgrade.
