Trap & drag incidents - becoming more common?

Are trap & drag accidents becoming more common? There are two commented on in this week's Government Accident summary at Archway and Chalk Farm on the Northern Line of London Transport, both of which happened earlier this year.


I hope they are not becoming more frequent than accidents were with hinged doors.

Suspect it’s more that more gets reported and investigated.

There's probably data on this somewhere. I would take an educated guess that the trend is generally flat.

The unions would suggest that this due to an increased percentage of driver only trains reliant on monitors for train dispatch. The industry states this is nothing unusual just increased reporting of incidents as stated above.
