I hold both a GMPTE Disabled card and a Disabled person railcard, and wanted to travel to Crewe, when I asked 1 station, they told me I only need to pay from Cheadle Hulme to Crewe, has my GMPTE disabled covers me as far as Cheadle Hulme. The other station says I would have to use my Disabled Persons Railcard due to travel outside the GMPTE travel map. So which is the best way to book my ticket. And if possible any advice if future when booking outside my allowed GMPTE area map.

The first ticket office was correct.

I do exactly what you want to do in Merseyside. I use my Disabled Person's Travel Pass until the last station in Merseyside, Newton le Willows and then a ticket from there to Manchester with my disabled persons railcard.

The National Rail Conditions of Carriage allow you to use more then one ticket to complete your journey. The use of the travel pass means, like in my case, that the train does NOT even need to call at the station where you change from one ticket to another - just pass through it.

What the OP can or can’t do with the local authority card will depend on whether it carries any restrictions on which TOC’s services can be used.

Assuming it's 09.30 or after (or anytime weekends) for a standard GM concession card or anytime any day if it's a concession plus card the advice of the 1st ticket office is correct. There are no TOC restrictions on GM concessions, the only thing to note is the train must pass through Cheadle Hulme and would not be valid via Styal. If the train stops at Stockport it will pass through Cheadle Hulme.
