Got a friend who is in to his train bashing - but he looks for units rather than actual stations.

We were chatting the other night and he was asking me about a challenge he was thinking about. He wants to travel on the most trains on the National Rail Network as possible in 24 hours. I sent him here and said there was a thread about doing every TOC but he literally means with no restrictions, and is even looking at something like shuttle runs from Manchester Oxford Road to Piccadilly and back. He thinks that is his easiest way to tick off his units (I said he must be mad and that must get boring very quickly, but I did appreciate it would tick off plenty of units).

i said I'd ask and see if anyone can think of any better routes. The only issue I can think of is a lot of movement at MAN if you are using different TOCs.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Probably something like Clapham Junction to Vauxhall and back. Preferably alternating between Windsor lines and Wimbledon ones at Vauxhall. He could also do Clapham to Victoria and back for a bit of variety, although it will take a little longer I think.

Piccadilly to Oxford Road would only require crossing from platform 13 to 14 surely, so w hold work well.

I guess other very short hops would work for different units. Liv St - Stratford for 315's would get you a lot in a short time. But if you aren't going for variety haha

Depends how much he likes walking between platforms you could get a lot of units by doing Blackfriars - City Thameslink - Farringdon leaps

Grangetown - Cardiff Central and onto Cardiff Queen Street.
Bristol - Lawrence Hill - Stapleton Road and return.
Leeds area.
Sheffield - Meadowhall.
Highbury & Islington - Surrey Quays
Willesden - Stratford.
Hope this helps some.

Cheers all - I suspect he'll go Manchester as I know he knows the area.

Must admit, think it would drive me insane, but each to their own!

Seeing him later this week so will pass the info on.

Yeah it'd do my nut in. Although maybe not if it involves Blackfriars. I could never get tired of the view
