I have noticed that the above stone trains now appear to be shown as cancelled in RTT on a regular basis.

This coincides with a big increase in Lomas Distribution 44 tonnes tippers running down the A6 towards the M56.

Anyone have any news if rail has lost the contract? If so, it is a big blow as each train removed ca 75 HGVs from the road. :(

I've just had a quick look, and it ran on five days* last week,
as it has been doing for the past couple of years now, ever since it
changed to running overnight with the wagons outbased at Northwich.

*the regular days for the loaded train are Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri/Sat;
it doesn't run on Thursdays or Sundays.

Sorry to waste your time! I must have been mixing up Oakleigh and Lostock, Oakleigh has of course closed.

It does make me wonder where all those Lomas HGVs are going? Mind you, they seem to be driving all the other local hauliers out of business both on tippers and bulk powder.

Just a thought but regarding the tippers, could they perhaps have a contract connected with construction work on the new Hazel Grove bypass/link road?

It is a thought, but I have followed several until they went onto the M60 westbound at the Pyramid.

Just a thought - how about the all the new roads leading onto the New Mersey "Gateway" bridge between Runcorn and Widnes? I am aware of the Dowlow - Warrington Stone train operates once/twice a week as that is in connection with this bridge - transported by road from Warrington.

Could well be. Just a pity they don't run more trains to Warrington to save road miles.
