Hi all,

I've been given my start date for end of August, completed my contract and references (haven't had anything back so assume that's a good thing!)

Just wondering how soon before start date do you get your pass and uniform? And do you collect or is it delivered to you?

Thanks

It'll be very company dependent.

Uniform may arrive before your start date, you may be issued it on your first day to take home or it might arrive several weeks after you start.

Again similar with passes - anywhere from a couple of weeks before your start date to your first day (or possibly slightly later).

I presume from your location of Cardiff you'll be working for TfW, but I have no knowledge of what tends to happen with them.

Thank you. Yeah it's with TFW guess it's just wait and see isn't it. I've put in the order form so that part is covered at least.

Uniform should be ready to collect on your first day (it was for me) and the pass is applied for online and not issued by TFW, and can take upto 6 weeks to arrive on the mail.

Great thanks mate, do they send you the time and where to go for the first day also? Thanks for your answer on this.

You'll get an email then week before about a company induction meeting held on MS Teams on the Monday you start, then training school Tuesday onwards. Directions for the school arrive in a separate email.

Hi
I have a few questions. First congrats on getting through.
What was the timing between your interview and offer and do you know the hours for training. Also is it paid?
Thanks

That is really good stuff, thank you for the response. Do you know if it's the same for other positions when training? For example a Train dispatcher.

Yes. I don’t know if any unpaid jobs on the railway unless a school leaver is having work experience.

If you’re employed by a company, with a contract, you’re paid. No matter if you’re training or working.

thank you for your response. i was wondering because i thought if there's a possibility that you don't do well in training or something, then you're out.

If you don’t do well in training they may offer additional support. If you are still not getting it you may be dismissed, like in any job that has a probationary period for example. Put the work in, ask questions if you don’t understand, it should all be grand.
