Upgrading one leg?

So I’m flying with Malaysia Airlines in October to Phuket via Kuala Lumpur and I’m wondering if it is possible to upgrade the flights to first class/business for just one leg. Has anyone had any experience with Malaysia Airlines upgrading before?

It should be possible, subject to availability. The best idea would be to contact the airline.
