Is it still possible to use a Merseytravel issued ENCTS Pass on the Mersey Ferry in the day time during the week and at the weekend or is this now limited to early morning and evening commuter services?

Thanks.

Yes. Valid after 0930 M-F and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, but only to cross the river - i.e. you can't 'stay on' at the other side and complete the whole cruise. You can, however, alight, and get the next service an hour later. In practice, if you start at Seacombe and travel to Liverpool, you've probably got time to visit the desk at Liverpool and get your permit to board the same round journey.

From the Merseytravel website

Where can I use it?

Merseytravel Over 60s pass - on local buses within the Merseyside boundary, on the Merseyrail network (City, Wirral and Northern lines within Merseyside and as far as Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk) and on the Mersey Ferries for direct river crossings (not River Explorer or Special Cruises). You cannot use the pass on coach excursions, special bus services, excursions, National Express or Merseylink, on rail journeys outside the Merseyrail network such as journeys between Chester and Liverpool via Runcorn or between Chester and Newton-le-Willows via Runcorn East.

English National Concessionary Travel Pass issued to Merseyside residents - on most buses in Merseyside, on the Merseyrail network as far as Chester, Ellesmere Port and Ormskirk and on the Mersey Ferries for direct river crossings (not River Explorer or Special Cruises) plus local bus services anywhere in England. You cannot use the pass on coach excursions, special bus services, excursions, National Express or Merseylink, on rail journeys outside the Merseyrail network such as journeys between Chester and Liverpool via Runcorn or between Chester and Newton-le-Willows via Runcorn East.

Merseytravel Over 60s pass

In Merseyside - on buses, trains and Mersey Ferries (direct river crossings) - all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Any time Monday to Friday, except for journeys which start between 6.30am and 9.30am

English National Concessionary Travel Pass issued to Merseyside residents.

In Merseyside - on buses trains and Mersey Ferries (direct river crossings) - all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Any time Monday to Friday, except for journeys which start between 6.30am and 9.30am

Elsewhere in England - on buses only (not trains or Mersey Ferries) - all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Monday to Friday between 9.30am - 11pm.

Just turn up at the booking desk at either Liverpool or Seacombe, show your Merseyside issued ENCTS pass, and you're given a QR coded ticket such as the one below (from my journey last week). This is scanned by staff before you board the vessel.

Thanks. So I can use it on the "cruise" provided I get off over the other side and step back a service.

Thanks for clarifying. The wording Merseytravel use is a bit unclear and I wasn't sure if it was only valid on commuter services.

I doubt everyone would notice if I stayed on and
came back round to Liverpool. But I could imagine it being contrary to some bylaw or something so not worth it.

Yes. It's very clear that the Concessionary pass is not to be used to take "the full cruise" in one go. This is now priced at £12.75 Adults and £11.25 for Over 60s (By comparison an all zone Saveaway is £6.30, which also allows single ferry journeys as well as all the buses and trains)
