According to brfares there are two sets of fares between Chelsfield and Forest Hill: London Not Und and Not Via London. My query is what are the valid routes available on the Not Via London fares.
Routeing Points for Chelsfield are Orpington and Sevenoaks, so Orpington must be appropriate. Routeing Points for Forest Hill are Croydon Group, Crystal Palace, London Group and New Cross Gate. Discounting London Group (as we want Not Via London) and Croydon Group, that leaves Crystal Palace and New Cross Gate.
Orpington to Crystal Palace gives us maps LONDON and FT while Orpington to New Cross Gate gives us just LONDON. Map FT appears to allow Orpington to Beckenham Junction to Crystal Palace which is fair enough.
Now, put Chelsfield to Forest Hill into NRE and it offers the Not Via London ticket changing between Penge East and West. I can't see how that is valid using FT and presumably you can't use LONDON map combinations on a Not Via London ticket? How is this valid?
Furthermore, add in a via point of New Cross Gate and it only offers the London Not Und fare and a fare involving two tickets via Surrey Quays. Should either Chelsfield to New Cross to Surrey Quays to Forest Hill or Chelsfield to New Cross (walk) New Cross Gate to Forest Hill be valid on the Not Via London ticket?
I'd appreciate thoughts from some of the other experts.
