Morning all,

I'm travelling to Brighton next weekend, and will be getting off the coach at Victoria at 9.10am. Usually I head over to Victoria station and catch a fast Southern service down to Brighton but unfortunately there is engineering works between Victoria and Clapham Junction so I'll be going from London Bridge instead. I have an open ticket and would ideally like to try and catch the 1004 from London Bridge, which is again a fast Southern service (Thameslink services from Blackfriars take nearly two hours!).

Am I likely to get from Victoria to London Bridge in roughly 45 minutes? I have an Oyster and it has plenty of money on there, and I am a (relatively) fit person and can dash on/off tubes fairly quickly. I'm guessing the quickest way would be Circle/District to Westminster and then Jubilee to London Bridge? Also, will I have time for a coffee somewhere? Can't last long without one!

This isn't a route I normally take, hence why I'm checking with the forum!

Many thanks!

You can easily travel from Victoria to London Bridge in forty five minutes. You could take the Circle/District line choob to Monument and then walk over London Bridge itself to the station.
OR, you could take a C10 bus from Victoria coach station to Borough and walk to London Bridge station from there. There is the Northern line from Borough but by the time that you've walked down to the platform, waited for and taken a choob train then walked from the choob platform to the main line station you'd have been quicker walking.

Yeah, Circle/District to Westminster, Jubilee to London Bridge is the fastest, grab a coffee at London Bridge. It's 12 mins according to TfL. Frequency is 24tph on the Circle/District and about 30tph on the Jubilee, so waiting won't be a problem.

Which weekend are you travelling?

This weekend is ok, but the following weekend (19/20 November) there are no trains east of Embankment. You can still go to Westminster and change to the Jubilee line, but frequencies may be reduced

It is the 19th/20th!

Best bet then would be to go via Westminster then I think!

Thanks for your replies.

Check before travelling but you shouldn't have to pay any extra if you are forced to London Bridge by engineering work.

Walk to Green Park for the Jubilee line direct, it's very close to Victoria.

I'm not but it's not the end of the world :)

Apparently it is a 25 minute from walk from Victoria Coach Station to Green Park. I certainly didn't think it was that far. Quite risky though!

I'd say that time estimate is spot-on. Personally, I'd go to the bus stop on Buckingham Palace Road immediately outside the coach station and see if a 211 to Waterloo is due within a few minutes. Then, if it was, get off at Waterloo and walk through to Waterloo East and go the one stop to London Bridge. On a Sunday morning that should be accomplished fairly painlessly (I'm assuming there will be trains from Charing Cross/Waterloo East that day).

To be honest, I'd like to get there the quickest way possible, regardless of what that may be.

The way I suggested would be as near to how a bird would fly it as is possible on public transport and involves no subterranean hikes! All predicated, admittedly, on a 211 showing within about five minutes, otherwise all bets are off.

P.S. I am assuming you're not travelling tomorrow, but the following weekend. If tomorrow, forget what I said because of Remembrance Sunday and road closures and just go District to Westminster then Jubilee.

I'd have said get the Victoria line from Victoria to Green Park and change for the Jubilee there to London Bridge. You'd comfortably be in London Bridge in well under a half hour then.

I have done Victoria to Charing Cross, main line platform to main line platform, in 12 minutes by using the District / Circle to Embankment and walking up Villiers Street; which suggests that ( assuming to engineering works intervening! ) it could also be done within the required time in this way given that there are very frequent departures from Charing Cross to London Bridge and it's only a few minutes between the two.

I have two bags with me.

I think I'm gonna go via Green Park. If I miss my train however I'm holding you all responsible haha!

Well, I'm absolved. Would have been my least favourite option. Now you'll report you managed to catch an earlier train from LB:)

It took fourteen minutes! Luckily my coach arrived twenty five minutes early too, so I had plenty of time! Left Victoria (after a quick breakfast and coffee stop) at 0915, was sat on the Brighton train at London Bridge at 0935! (and that was even including going outside and taking a picture of the Shard!) (I also got lost trying to find the mainline platforms )

I love the 2009 stock on the Victoria Line so I was glad I took this option.

Well done - you're obviously quick on your feet.:)
