Yesterday, whilst pulling into New Street on a Cross City line train, I noticed that the 12:30 Birmingham New Street to London Euston service was being opperated by a 221 Voyager. Was this just a one off working or are these units becoming more common on routes usually opperated by 390's?

The 13:30 on monday (18 July 2011) was one to EUS from BHM. This was the 12:52 ex BHI to BH earlier in the day. (221110)

Select diagrams in summer go over to 221 operation to free up 390s for busier Scotland - Birmingham diagrams. I'll try and find up the details.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
From Bengolding:

Edinburgh Pendolinos Mon-Sat
1051 Edinburgh - Euston via Birmingham
0843 Euston - Edinburgh via Birmingham
1451 Edinburgh - Euston via Birmingham

Mon-Fri only
New 0928 Glasgow Central - Euston (0940 has fewer stops)
1030 Euston - Lancaster extended to Glasgow

An additional Super Voyager is added to strengthen Euston - Chester services.

And:

07:19 Birmingham N St to Glasgow Central
12:00 Glasgow Central to Birmingham N St
14:30 London Euston to Lancaster
17:36 Lancaster to London Euston
16:00 Glasgow Central to Birmingham N St

are now all Pendo vice Super Voyager

And:
For North Wales:

09:10 Euston to Holyhead is now a double throughout, with the 13:58 return working being the same double-set back from Holyhead, not just south of Chester.

16:35 Chester Euston/19:10 Euston Holyhead also both doubles, not sure If 19:10 is double throughout.

Edit: I forgot to mention several Saturday Birmingham-Edinburgh/Glasgow workings are going to be double sets as well

Most comprehensive update:

Diagrams now to hand, and changes from 16th July to 10 September, in addition to the 06.20 Bham, 08.43 Euston and 10.52/14.52 Edinburgh being 390s mon-sat as last year, and the all day SX diagram for a 221 on EBWs, are:

Monday to Friday.

390 will work 07.20 Birmingham/12.00 Glasgow/16.20 Birmingham, balanced by the set off 10.30 dated Euston-Glasgow working 16.00 back to Birmingham.

The Voyager saved will allow the 09.10 Euston-Holyhead to be 10 cars throughout, with a set off Crewe to work the 11.35 Chester-Euston, and the set off the 13.10 from Euston strengthening the 16.35 up and 19.10 down as far as Chester.

The 13.43 Euston-Glasgow is a pair of 221s - on Fridays one set is detached at New St for the 19.20 to Glasgow.

14.30 Euston-Lancaster and 17.37 return will be a Pendolino

10.36 FO Preston-Euston and 18.46 FO return are (different) 221s.

18,43 Euston-Crewe remains diagrammed for a mythical VW699, but presumably as now will be WB64.

Saturday

08.00 Glasgow/12.20 Birmingham/16.52 Edinburgh
05.57 Crewe/10.00 Glasgow
08.20 Birmingham/12.52 Edinburgh/17.20 Birmingham

are ten cars

05.50 Glasgow-Birmingham and 13.43 Euston-Glasgow
18.40 Glasgow-Birmingham and 17.43 Euston-Birmingham-Preston are 390s.

are 390s

Sunday

10.52 Edinburgh-Birmingham/15.20 Birmingham-Glasgow
10.20 Birmingham/14.52 Edinburgh/19.20 Birmingham

are ten cars

12.52 Edinburgh/17.20 Birmingham
10.17 Preston/12.20 birmingham/16.52 Edinburgh/21.20 Birmingham

are Pendolino.
