Just checking - the off-peak return from Crewe to Wembley Central with a senior card is £59.90 while the corresponding return to Euston is £62.40.

The NR journey planner suggest the CRE-WMB fare is valid doubling back at Euston.

Can somebody please confirm that this is correct?

The £59.90 Crewe -> Wembley Central Off Peak Return (railcard discounted) fare certainly seems to have a Maltese Cross against it.

So, for this particular journey, is double backing via Euston permitted, which, if so, does seem to slightly undercut the Crewe -> London Terminals Off Peak Return (route Any Permitted) fare.

That sort of doubling back is usually allowed on tickets to stations in the London suburbs, but they are often priced the same as the relevant Terminal station.

Although now it's been flagged up, I wouldn't be surprised if the fare either gets increased to be the same as Crewe - London or gets a "Not via London" restriction added to prevent passengers from doubling back via Euston

This is correct and is in fact a fare I used only last weekend!
