Western Rail Link to Heathrow?

Hi All,
This guy posted another interesting proposal from network rail about a western link from the Great Western Mainline to Heathrow. Although 5 years to construct 6km is actually pathetic... Thoughts anyone?

How is it pathetic? Especially given most of that 6km is in tunnel and involves a large junction to be constructed around an operational Great Western Main Line.

Please feel free to share your extensive expertise as to how it could be done faster.

Why is this in speculation?

It seems to me all the youtube guy has done is document the known Western Access proposal that is already going through the normal development process?

I expect the DCO application was probably imminent until the Covid crisis appeared...

Maybe it is just me, but having seen how fast come countries like China and Japan build their railways, especially with track laying equipment nowadays. It seems excessive in my mind, but I suppose when you take into the fact they have to test and then keep other services running, it might take a while

We have a lot of regulations as well
