Apologies for what is a pretty old-hat topic but I am confused......very confused.

This class was built with 16 units 325001-325016. No problem there. 325010 seemingly had a bogey failure and the rest of the set was used as a donor for the rest of the class. Or was it? Allegedly the unit went off to CF Booths around April 2012 and was scrapped . Again was it? The last sighting/photo on Locoscene (At Willesden) was around March 2006 and before that 2005 at Rugby.

Then we come to 325017. There are several Locoscene sightings between June 2005 and 2010 - some with clear photographs. The last time it was shown as seen was December 2011 at Crewe.

Clearly Locoscene sightings are unsubstantiated - and one important sighting was at night anyway - but the sheer volume of both of them (including photos) suggest that something is amiss. My 2010 "Combine" says 01-016 whereas 017 was definitely in existence complete with the unique-ish numbering.

Can somebody let me know what the actual history was.

I'd already moved on from EWS well before this situation arose and drove my last 325 in 2000 so I don't have first hand knowledge, but the way I understand it was that 325017 was simply a temporary numbering for a hybrid of 009 & 010, as always though I stand to be corrected

ExRes is correct regarding the numbering of 325 017, details of the formations can be found here on the Scot-Rail site.

From what I can recollect, 325 010 was out of service for some time at Wembley before being moved to Ilford by road for component recovery on 18th October 2007 photos . It was some time before then that 325 017 came into existence, by November 2009 it had reverted to being numbered 325 009.
