Hi everyone. So long story short I originally applied for the trainee train driver role in December 2020, got through every stage apart from my MMI which I failed in summer of 2023, I know why I failed. I just didn't have strong enough answers, I thought it would be laid back like the DMI but it really wasn't that!

I re-applied in novemver 2024 and only had to do my DMI again, which I passed a few weeks ago, and not my MMI is coming up. I've already passed the assessments previously so no need to do them again.

I have note of 5 questions which are:

1.A time where you have had to deal with an emergency or pressurised situation.
2.A time where you have had to follow strict rules and procedures.
3.A time where you have had to persevere whilst learning something
4.Describe a time where you have demonstrated skills similar to that of a train driver.
5.An example of a time where you had to do something important and not make a mistake.

is there anyone that could advise me of the 6th? Are they still the same as they've always been? Have they changed?!

I have decent detailed answers prepared this time, but I don't want to go in on the day not knowing that 6th question and fail the whole interview on one question.

Anyone able to help?

Thanks in advance.

So you want to know what questions you will be asked so that you can prepare detailed answers to those exact questions? Really? Are you not able to think on your feet and answer even one question you might not have prepared for? That’s a poor show. What if you get asked 6 different questions? What are you going to do then?

This is akin to refusing to sit an exam until you’ve seen the question paper beforehand which, when I was at school would have been called cheating.

Not a chance

Our HR department are changing the questions with every intake to avoid this exact thing.

When I was applying I had the same thought... I like to be over prepared.

I read through all of the information on here that I could and came up with a similar list.

I then had the realisation that if they wanted us to come prepared they would have shared the questions in advance. Just like they shared examples of the tests.

However, the problem.with this is that it doesn't show your ability to think on your feet... just like the length recruitment process could be considered a test in its self. They are trying to work out if you have the relevant experience and how you react under pressure.

For me, one of the questions they asked I didn't have the experience to be able to give an answer. I explained this and then explained what I would do if I was in that situation.

Obviously it's a great opportunity and everyone wants to do the best they can however from my experience anyone giving you the questions would be doing you a dis-service.

Theres so many and frequent threads on this topic it's getting repetitive.

If you want the questions they already exist on this forum somewhere, you just need to put the work in to find them.

I don't agree with sharing questions or answers but I know they already exist. You should be able to adapt to questions as others have said, they're starting to change the questions or changing the wording to avoid people coming in prepared.

Some of the replies you have received have been so unbelievably condescending. I have PM’d you.

They have been the same 6 questions for a number of years 10 at least.

Not everyone will have the gift of the gab so it's understandable that some of us wants to be prepared especially when it's 2 strikes you're out

The crazy thing is I'm sure most of them got help or the questions from here too. The 6 questions have been posted here so many times. This forum helped me a lot whilst I was going through the process but apparently that means I was spoon fed and unable to think on my feet....

The posting of (and discussion of) interview questions isn’t disallowed, however I acknowledge that it can be controversial and is something that divides opinions.

I’m not going to remove anything from public view however I will bring this thread to a close. Part of the rationale for this is the need to ensure comments remain constructive, and avoid accusations, etc.
