I found the attached bus ticket from 2012 - I believe 58 is the route number but what is the symbol before it?

Thanks

SE was "Service" - some operators also had ST for "Stage" on tickets if they used numbered fare stages rather than the text destination

Yep. SE was service on an old wayfarer, surprised anyone was still using them as late as that.

Like the destination "bus station sort of a museum" - someone had a sense of humour

I think is says Bus Stn/Sort Off/Museum, i.e. Sorting Office... much though I prefer reading it as you have!

Service 58 was the First Berkshire service from Uxbridge towards Langley and Slough.

Yep Sort Off would have been the big Royal Mail depot on Wellington Street, and at that time Slough Museum was near the first stop on the Slough High Street which ran parallel to Wellington St.
