It is the DPTF which had been in 800001 (?) but is going to be repainted and put into 800311. 800001 has gotten a new DPTF to allow it to go into service whilst this gets repainted and refitted.

There is also one there for 800312 which came from 800002.

One has already been painted and was in the paint shop last night.

Whats a DPTF then ? as not everyone including me does not talks in initals, some people don,t know what they stand for. Please at least once tell us what a DPTF is, its the same as people talking about stations by the three letter codes we all don,t know what and where they are as not everyone on here works for any part of the railway.

DPTF is short for Drving Pantograph Trailer First.

Why? What happened to the one 800311 came with?

By the sounds of things it's a simple vehicle swap, with the original Driving Pantograph Trailer First (DPTF) from 800001 going into 800311, and the one built for 800311 being the one that 800001 will have when it enters service.

I think this had always been planned, to build new vehicles for the prototype units. I think that it essentially boils down to the need to fit kitchens to those vehicles (which is why it is only the DPTFs and not the DPTSs as well), and so it is easier and quicker to put new vehicles with the kitchens fitted into those units (which need to enter service before the 9 cars), and shuffle those vehicles back into units which don't need to enter service as quickly.
