Where can i go with my travel ticket? (Yorkshire area)

Hi again, i got great help here last time so i figured i'd try my luck again and see if you guys could help me once more... if nothing else i'm sure it will make good discussion.

Basically i have a ticket that allows me to travel anywhere within the boundaries of South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire (West Yorkshire is only valid if i board/alight within South Yorkshire) and was wondering if there was any information available other than metro maps that would tell me exactly what stations i can get to within these rules.

Sorry if i'm being a bit thick but i'm not very well travelled and wanted to get the most out of my ticket and visit everywhere i could within the boundaries and rules of the ticket.

So i cant go from West to West but i can go from South to West, limiting but still better than no west at all.

Also if anyone has any recommendations as to where to visit with this ticket please let me know

Just going by those terms linked, then using only Northern services your route options would be limited to:

Sheffield > Barnsley > Huddersfield
Sheffield > Wakefield (Westgate) > Leeds
Sheffield > Wakefield (Kirkgate) > Castleford > Leeds
Doncaster > Wakefield (Westgate) > Leeds

So basically I think your options would be limited to a maximum distance of Huddersfield or Leeds, or any of the stations prior to these, but once you alight at any you would only be able to return along the same or similar route back into South Yorkshire.

Others will be along to hopefully pad this out & correct any errors, but that as I understand those terms would be the limit to where you could travel just using that pass.

Thank you for that. This is basically the info i was after but padded out with all the extra stations as you said. I didnt realise i could get to both wakefield stations though which is useful info.

I can use buses all around England too, but obviously this is a rail forum and buses take a lot longer to get anywhere compared to a train and not always as disabled friendly, hence why i wanted to know where i could get to by pretty much only trains.

I was just wondering if there were any interesting towns i could get to that i could look around and not just big city type places, although the city places are also good as they usually have decent museums i can visit.

Just trying to get myself out and about more and experience life a little more within my means.

Thorne South for easy access to the canal. Thorne North eastbound platform access is by steep steps only.
Kiveton Bridge (pub) to Shireoaks is one of the best canal-(12 locks) walks in the country, need extra ticket to return from Shireoaks. Both station next to the canal
The route to Huddersfield is very scenic.

The 84 84a 84b buses from Doncaster bus station (next door to the train station) to give easy access canals and the moors/wastes and the prettiest village in South Yorkshire - Fishlakes.

Doncaster airport bus to see the big Antonov cargo plane.
Conisborough castle and the walkway across the viaduct to complete a round trip.
Tram train
Moorthorpe to South Elmsall is a mile downhill walk.

Pontefract(poor access) has a limited through service.

If you really wanted to, you could visit Keighley on Sundays only, using the once weekly Nottingham-Sheffield-Carlisle and return service. You'd have from 1142 to 1716 to have entertain yourself. A trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway perhaps?

Thank you unlevel and lyndhurst those are some good ideas and I would have never even known that once weekly Sunday train existed before today.

Had a trip to Elsecar yesterday, that was a very lovely place.
