Afternoon all,

I've been successful in applying to be a Trainee Senior Conductor for West Midlands Trains, and begin training next month

I was just after a bit more information in regards to the shift pattern you will be working once training has been completed, just so I've got an idea of what it will look like - am I right in thinking it's 2 days off every set? I'm unsure what the working hours in a day are, if they stay the same or some days you might do 8 hours, then another day 10 hours etc.

I've worked shifts previously 9/10 years, however have had a 9-5 job for the last 2 years.

3 week pattern, permanent / forever. (x) are your days off.

MO TU (x) (x) FR SA
MO TU WE TH (x) (x)
(x) (x) WE TH FR SA

4 days per week average, as above, with generally one required Sunday every three weeks, but it's not in your long 5-day weekend. Shifts - 9h24 average.

Some shifts may be 5/6 hours, some 9h59 but you will always get a minimum of 9h24 pay per day.

Thanks for that

Do you happen to know what the earliest shift start time is and the latest finish time is please?

Monday to Friday there is a 0501 book on.
Latest finish is 0037 (there might be an 0100 finish but that’s a ‘spare’)
Saturday is 0512/0034
Sunday is 0808/0035.

I was a conductor at New St until January this year before becoming a conductor manager (although I’m about to start as a driver) but if you’ve got any questions I’ll do my best to help.

Earliest at Worcester is 05.00 standby turn, booked job is 05.06 start.
Latest at present for a booked job is 00.29 finish although as stated if you are a late spare could be up til 01.00
