I caught a service today from Bramley to Bradford, which was already subject to change due to a fire at Rochdale - it was terminating at Todmorden.

Less than a mile from Bramley station we came to a halt. I checked RTT and the previous service was being held at New Pudsey so I knew all was not well.

A minute or two later announcement of a major points failure at Bradford and our service was going back to Leeds.

Driver swapped ends and we made our way back to Bramley. I alighted and was confronted by all the Leeds passengers making their way to the Bradford platform to get on its return.

How would this service be handled for its trip back? I assume it would cross back to Leeds bound line at the nearest crossover and make its way back to Leeds?

It will run wrong direction all the way to the Mainline where it meets the line from Wakefield. Every line into Leeds are signalled to allow movements off the branches into the station
