XC and LNW Super Off Peak Query

Hi all, just want to confirm validity of a ticket for next Friday before I try and use it. I want to buy a Super Off Peak Return XC & LNW only from Sheffield to Euston (£41.65 with 26-30 railcard). I would like to travel on the 1556 from Sheffield connecting to the 1656 at Tamworth. No journey planners say that the Super Off Peak is valid, only the Off Peak however looking at restriction code LG it states:

"Not valid for travel on services timed to depart the origin station on the ticket after 15:59 and before 19:01 in either direction.

A connecting service can be used to complete a journey begun at a valid time."

So I'm assuming that this will be valid and it's an error in the journey planner? Either way, if it turns out not to be valid I guess it will be just a £6.35 excess to the Off Peak fare so not much of a big deal.

Thanks for any advice!

The short version is that it's next to impossible to code that changing trains is allowed in the restriction data, so journey planners can't show the journey as being valid.

The journey planners can't understand the concept of the 'A connecting service can be used to complete a journey begun at a valid time.' rule. Probably in the 'to hard' pile.

Just be aware some of the guards on LNR services on the rare occasion they leave the middle cab will claim it's invalid as they don't understand that concept either (silo thinking that 'this is a train where super offpeak tickets are not valid')

In short, it is valid. You are starting your journey at a valid time and are allowed to connect onto a service.
