I noticed by chance the other day the apps for West Yorkshire Metro (MCard Mobile) and Transport South Yorkshire (TSY Mobile) are both developed by 'Yorcard Limited'

Why did I notice this...well after a whole year with zero updates they randomly seem to have decided to release an update for the MCard Mobile app!

Exciting...until you find out the release notes 'Major new redesign' translates as a lick of paint (to sort of look like the TSY Mobile app) and err...that's it

The middle of 2024 - and yet still no Apple Pay / Google Pay support in either app seems crazy!

I know app development costs money but surely it doesn't cost *that* much to develop something that links in to native phone functionality and provide a better experience for passengers all round...they keep making promises in the reviews 'testing and going live in a few weeks with that!'...several months later and nothing

I suppose this is what people should come to expect from a Labour-run public company?! After all, Yorcard is owned by the respective combined authorities (https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/06135165/officers). Officers are David Haskins representing West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Timothy Taylor representing the transport team at South Yorkshire CA. Stephen Davenport being the Director of Legal and Governance at South Yorkshire CA).

Unlike in some countries, council officers are not chosen for their political outlook here.

Granted. However any work done by council officers will be dictated by the political party in charge in their region. In both cases Labour. I only named the directors to show that Yorcard is a publicly owned company.
