Makes you wonder if it was for non-footballing reasons. Pearson does have a track record of being sacked from jobs where, from an outsider's perspective, he seemed to be doing well.
He did criticise the board, which could be a factor. Doesn't excuse the decision though.

He does seem a bit less of a nutter than in his Leicester days.

A good weekend for Gareth Southgate with Kane and Jude staring but also fine performances from Pickford,DCL, Foden, Walker Stones and Grealish.

Jude's 1st and Kane's 2nd were fantastic goals, although it has to be said that Jude had a poor 1st half. He was excellent after ht mind.

Darlington 1 v Spennymoor 2 - Congratulation's to Spenny for wining their cup final. Darlo routed to the foot of the table. Going down faster than the titanic. We have made a mistake in appointing Josh Gowling. Played 6. 2 points. Admit the mistake and get him out.
Time for Billy Heath ?

someone like that is exactly what we needed imo. A total hard case. no messing. Alfreton are an awful side to play against because they are tough, direct, very physical and well organised. We couldn't afford to buy him out mind!

He got Halifax out of national league north (and in the right direction I hasten to add). As you say, no messing about, 4-4-2 and get the ball in the box for the big man.

Pretty sure he’s only part time at Alfreton, as he had been at Halifax, so unless “can’t afford to buy him out” means you’ve not got two pennies to run together……

Time for @DarloRich to find (and maybe dust down) a copy of the Northern Premier League's road map? Might well be needing it next August. :s
in it on my xmas list sadly :( ( we are going to need it)

I don't think we do - Alun Armstrong looked finished at the end of last season but was given another chance. He spent a good chunk of money creating a massively imbalanced squad and was then sacked. We had to pay off his 2 year contract. We then appointed Gowling and I doubt we can afford to get rid of another manager.

I cant see how we stay up. 6 games and precious little improvement - certainly no new manager bounce. I think we appointed the wrong guy.

I wonder if the Glazer family still believe that the intrinsic value attached to Manchester United will remain stable whilst the football side is steadily going downhill under different managers
Probably, despite everything they are still one of the few truly global football clubs.

They made record revenues last year of almost £650m. Though still making an overall loss, even before the cost of financing the debt.

The reason for his death is seemingly falling on accident. It has also been confirmed a memorial service will be taking place according to the following BBC article

Sir Bobby Charlton died after fall, inquest hears

Sir Bobby Charlton died after an accidental fall at a care home, an inquest has heard.
The England and Manchester United legend died aged 86 in Macclesfield General Hospital on 21 October.
The inquest at Cheshire Coroner's Court heard Sir Bobby was living in The Willows in Knutsford, a nursing home caring for patients with dementia.
Senior coroner for Cheshire Jacqueline Devonish concluded his death was accidental.
The hearing was told Sir Bobby had lost his balance as he stood up from his chair, striking a window sill and "possibly a radiator".
Staff performed a full-body check at the time and noted no visible injuries, and recorded his mobility seemed unaffected.
But they later noticed swelling on his back and paramedics were called to the centre, where he had been receiving respite care since July.
He was then taken to a local hospital before being moved to Macclesfield General Hospital.
A chest X-ray and CT scan revealed he had fractured his ribs and was likely to develop pneumonia, the inquest heard.
Doctors then agreed Sir Bobby should be put on end-of-life care, dying five days later.
The inquest heard he had an extensive medical history and had also contracted Covid in September.
Care home manager Tamara Simmons, said Sir Bobby "needed support with all aspects of daily living".
The coroner gave the cause of death as trauma in the lungs, a fall and dementia.
Following the inquest, Karen Slater, associate operations director at MHA which owns the care home, said Sir Bobby had been living at the site for a short period of time.
"Staff at the home were very fond of Sir Bobby and cared for and supported him, as they do for all our residents," she said.
"Our deepest sympathies go to his widow Lady Norma Charlton and his family."
Widely hailed as one of England's greatest ever players, Sir Bobby was a key figure in the Three Lions' 1966 World Cup victory.
During a 17-year first-team career with United he won three league titles, a European Cup and an FA Cup.
Thousands of fans have left tributes at Old Trafford, with the area in front of the famous Trinity statue - where he is immortalised alongside team-mates George Best and Denis Law - flooded with memorabilia and flowers.
Plans for a full memorial service later this month have also been unveiled.

In any national cup competitions, the "minnows" always like playing the "big teams" on their home pitch, but it rarely brings them the result they seek.

In the Spanish Copa del Rey, CF Tardienta of the Regional Preferente-Group 1 were drawn at home to Getafe from La Liga and home advantage had no effect on the result....

CF Tardianta 0 ... Getafe 12.

No effect? The victory may have been by an even greater margin if Getafe had played at home. But there's no actual way of knowing.

Real Betis are 9-0 up at half time in their game

Giant-killings do still happen on occasion though... in the German Cup, FC Saarbrucken have come back from a goal down to defeat the mighty Bayern München 2-1, with goals in stoppage time at the end of each half.

Arsenal go out too, losing 3-1 to West Ham. Only Liverpool from the top five in the Premier, have reached the QF.

Is the curse of trophy dodger Harry Kane striking the Baverians. Probably the easiest way for him to have finally got his germans on a medal gone and they are not having it all their own way in Bundesliga.

I see 5 of Man Utd's next 6 games are away from Old Trafford - Fulham, Copenhagen, Everton, Galatasaray & Newcastle.
The one home games is against Luton Town.
Will they still have the same Manager after that lot?

When he lifts the Euros in Berlin next July it will taste even sweeter

Brilliant performance and for once- we looked untroubled at the back. Still a lot of work to be done, but it's amazing what a bit of confidence and leadership can do for a football team.

Very happy here. Middlesbrough have an away draw to a league one side. Means Exeter would have had a Premier league side at home
