Wellington in Shropshire was renamed Wellington Telford West for a short time in the 1980's. Once Telford Central opened in May 1986 it was renamed back to Wellington.
It was obvious that combining New St to Euston with New St to Liverpool was never going to work. The obsession with not having services start & terminate at New St has led to absolute carnage.
In regard the last regular tank train to run via Hereford I would hazard a guess at the Burn Naze to Barry Docks vinyl tanks. This ceased running in 1999. Motive power was usually a Class 56.
The Paddington to Hull service also conveyed a portion for Leeds. The train divided at Sheffield. The return working was a Leeds/Hull to Brighton service which combined at Sheffield.
