Don't believe this made it into the public eye, but the Old Dalby Test Track was also affected by a landslip. Civils works are ongoing and OLE replacement in the affected spans is also planned.

They have indeed started piling! A sporadic amount was done over Xmas 2023 while the line was shut, ostensibly for the Barkston Ash bridge replacement which ultimately got canned due to the high winds at the time. Piles begin SW of Barkston Ash bridge and continue SW towards Huddlestone Grange...
Having been practically on site (a byway skirts the edge of the compound and is bisected by the haul road to the brick building), it's nigh on impossible to get a crane pad or those low-level apparatuses used at other sites into position.
Lord knows how they'll manage it at Aycliffe...

I believe so. WNXX reports that 90033 was stored April 2005, and 90030 was stored January 2006, so it's entirely realistic that these 2 locos have spent approx half their lives in store.
Can confirm that the purpose of said drivers' walkway is for maintenance trains (think tampers, test trains, RHTTs etc.) which are otherwise too long to fit in the bay.
From what I can tell, only 950001 and an MPV would likely be able to squeeze in.
