I have travelled in the Strathclyde area (commuting for work and leisure) for over 30 years now, all of them on DOO services and they have been perfectly safe

RMT turns down Network Rail Pay Offer

Interested to know this as well, it would seem strange that the RMT is looking to scrap a bonus scheme offered to their members!

    Strike dates announced for Scotrail

That may be true but it is also true that guards are also posted missing on those types of services. The key here is BTP enforcement, not TE or guard enforcement

    Strike dates announced for Scotrail

I have been commuting on the suburban Glasgow DOO electric services for decades and it is excellent. It is really noticable how long non DOO services take to allow passengers to open the doors at stations when compared to most electric services around Glasgow

    Siemens signalling R&D funding pledged

Network Rail already funds this as a large R&D fee is applied by Siemens for all signalling contracts with NR through the major signalling framework contract. To say Siemens are investing is a bit of a misnomer

On the actual incident, have ASLEF done an evaluation on which stock would have handled that tree collison better than the HST?
