Anecdotally, it feels like the 777s have nose-dived in reliability over the past few days. It's been a little while since I've had this many alerts from the Merseyrail Twitter account about train faults.
Once deliveries and acceptance of all 777s is completed, are we expecting Merseyrail to "go back" to the same timetable as previously, with the same services doubled to 8 cars etc? Or will it be a new timetable?
Selfishly looking forward to the 1616 from Central to Ormskirk becoming an 8-car...
I've just watched 5G48 going into the Leeds St tunnels towards Moorfields as an 8-car. First time I (personally) have seen one go any further down than Sandhills. It's come back out of the reversing siding at Central as 5O33, and I've just seen it emerge from Leeds St tunnels still as an 8-car...
Only the Southport/Hunts Cross and Ormskirk lines ran trains doubled-up that I know of, and these were mostly only peak times. Certainly the trains I usually use to commute on the Ormskirk line used to be 6 cars, and it'll be great to see a return to 8-cars, especially on my way home.
Do we know when units will start being allocated/stored at Birkenhead? It looks a bit busy in the morning with a few units having to traipse from Kirkdale, reverse at Central, and head off down the exchange line.
I noticed this yesterday too on the Ormskirk line, still displaying "Liverpool Central" despite terminating at Walton. One even left Ormskirk with "Not in service" on it.
Seems disappointing they appear to have no flexibility outside of their "route".
Looks like 2O36 has just been pulled out of service due to "an act of vandalism causing damage to the train". It's at Old Roan too - repeat of yesterday?
