Another hypothetical Delay Repay question

This is hypothetical as a 3 minute delay to the connection at Manchester Piccadilly meant I didn't miss it (well, I did, I chose not to rush and to stop for dinner, but I could easily have made it if I had wanted to) but how about this one?

Journey: Ulverston to Milton Keynes Central via Manchester Piccadilly (Northern then Avanti)

Tickets used:
Advance Single from Ulverston to Lancaster (I don't usually do Advances, but given that I bought it stood on the platform with no other viable option train-wise it seemed safe and saved 4 quid :) )
Return portion of a Milton Keynes Central to Penrith Off Peak Return, starting short at Lancaster (no previous use made of the Penrith-Lancaster bit)

A valid itinerary was followed.

I assume had the connection at Manc Picc actually been missed I'd just stick it in as two tickets used and it would be paid on the full value of the both despite part of the second one not being used?

That’s what I’ve done in the past and have never had an issue getting compensation paid on the full combined value.

Exactly; that mirrors my experience. I think you'd struggle to make multiple Delay Repay claims involving the same ticket - and in any case, the total compensation payable would be limited to the value of the ticket.

But TOCs can't (and don't) start looking at what, say, a Milton Keynes to Lancaster ticket would have cost; it would quickly get complex and messy if they did so, and there's nothing in the NRCoT or any TOC's Charter that alludes to anything of the sort.

To be fair if I'd known I was going to do that I'd have split at Lancaster anyway. It was a last minute decision based on which bus turned up first at Glenridding (I thought I'd missed the Windermere one but it showed up a couple of minutes late, then the platform at Windermere was heaving by 45 minutes before the 3-car 1600 direct Manchester so I decided to have a ride on the (X)6 having not done it before!)

Was the right choice, the train from Ulverston was fairly quiet, and that line, particularly in that direction, makes me almost "wow" out loud every single time, it really is beautiful!
