Hi there! My name is James and on Friday 21/06/24 I am going to be doing something that I have wanted to do for a long long time, 1st class end-to-end on the longest direct train journey in Britain, the Crosscountry 1V60 trip from Aberdeen right the way down to Penzance! I booked my ticket a few weeks ago and paid £369 for a 1st class advance ticket. I checked the other day to see what is the latest date that you can still purchase advance tickets fairly cheaply (just in case I have to alter the date of my ticket in case of strikes) and it has now come to my attention that there is now a sale on Crosscountry 1st class advance tickets and that for first class on the train I am booked onto is now only £283, which would have been a saving of £86. I have checked with Crosscountry and unfortunately I cannot have a refund on the ticket that I have already bought. I accept that rules are rules, however, I would like to ask, is there any way of knowing in advance when exactly the first class advance tickets will go on sale?
Many thanks
James
