My usual train home is the 1720 Middlesbrough-Saltburn (1624 ex-Bishop Auckland), and has a crew change at Middlesbrough. Without exception the incoming driver hands their key over to the outgoing on the platform.

Not a good day at all on Teesside, the Darlington-Saltburn line was only just getting back to normal by mid-afternoon when all trains were cancelled again due to a broken down train blocking the line at Grangetown.
