    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

I would suggest that removing both the 26 and 44 from Musselburgh would be a disaster, as at the moment they are both hugh frequency routes through a growing town providing 11 buses an hour into Edinburgh, over and above the existing 4 ECB per hour and even then at the rush hours they are all...

Edinburgh & The Lothians Council Tender Services

I suspect that if the same company were to be tendered for the S Queensferry to Gyle route as the Calders chesser one then they would run it as a through service with a short commercial section in the middle.

72 is certainly popular (particularly between Livingston Centre and Whitburn) can't comment on the other section. 73 is moderate, think the quicker link to Bathgate is useful and being used Can't say about the 74, not really seen it about enough. X40 proving itself with the link to Westside...

Edinburgh & The Lothians Council Tender Services

Would it not make more sense to have the Queensferry to Gyle and Chesser to Wester Hailes routes connected (overall Queensferry to Chesser) thus providing the link from the Calders to the Gyle, which I believe is somewhat used by locals.

    Lothian group (Network/Route Speculation)

I like a lot of the ideas here, like the thinking to create solid combined frequencies on many parts of the network. I understand the links you are trying to create but suspect 6 buses per hour is too much for Fauldhouse. Not sure what I would change as yet but feel that could be significant...

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

It went up just prior to the festivals in August, and as said above makes Lothian's offering better value, especially when taking into account the Live Guide on the Edinburgh Tour, which I know is a big draw for some...

It had closed down, presumably not getting many queries

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

The Edinburgh tour has the live tour guide, and the city sightseeing has the multi-language commentary. But I agree they should be slightly different. Up until now the Edinburgh tour has also gone round the new town via Charlotte sq. However I don't think that calling point was terribly popular.

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

I hope that the UL doesn't see a reduction in capacity, they already run full for large portions of the day! Especially in the current climate of driver shortages when many of the duplicates and peak buses don't run! This could be a big mistake on their part!

    Scottish Citylink

I agree it seems vague, hoping it serves a key location of the town (St John's, or the Centre) rather than some slightly random location eg Deer Park, however is it possible it may serve the 3 FastLink stops, go round the junction at Howden/Craigshill then return back up the same way, thereby...

McGill's Scotland East (Midland Bluebird and Eastern Scottish)

Just read on this weeks notices and proceedings, the 27 application has been withdrawn. Not overly surprised, they already cancel too many services to be contemplating another new route.

    Trivia: Scratchcard bus tickets

In terms of Edinburgh, I believe the biggest user of the scratchcard tickets these days are various council organisations (eg schools, community facilities etc)

Would it be suitable for the X5 to go onto the A1 from Meadowmill for one junction, along the A199 through Masons Way, then back onto A1 at Wallyford? Just a thought that would allow most others to keep their existing routes

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Each of the X27 and X28 will operate every 40 mins meaning between Bathgate and Mid Calder there will be a regular every 20 mins service. Every 40 mins on the separate sections will be more awkward to follow, but then again a guaranteed every 40 is better than an erratic, pot luck frequency like...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

A couple of thoughts I've had during my commutes on LCB (particularly X27 X28 1. In the morning rush, the X27/28 are getting absolutely hammered by the stops between Hermiston and Longstone - many people using them as an X25 replacement and letting other services go by to get on - dwell times...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I am all for making changes to convert the 30 to Double-Deck operation, however the notion that the conversion would allow for a less frequent service seems a little misguided, as the current Evoras have a total capacity of 95 passengers!, and the latest Enviro400 batch have a total capacity of...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

The rerouting of the 41 seems to be a positive development, with it no longer having to sit a the Quality St Junction forever, and going straight through the Barnton Junction instead of turning left/right in and out of whitehouse road. I hope the timetables of the 41/43 will be balanced enough...

This seems like a good idea in principal, could even just send the 30 via the Fort eg; The Jewel - A1 - Fort Kinnaird - Niddrie etc, and as a result, providing extra buses overall betwen the Fort and Niddrie

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

In the very near future, orbital routes will probably prove to be very popular, with this weeks news that 2500 homes planned around Edinburgh Gateway/Gogar Roundabout. This is in addition to the 1000s of homes along the bypass corridor. Primarily hospital links will be necessary but a few decent...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

An increase of frequency on the 400 may be beneficial in the not too distant future with the 1000s of new homes along its route. Also on that front, I wonder if an increase on services 3/29/31/37/47 maybe necessary with the houses popping up all over the place adjacent to these routes.
