Since I’ve lived here, I’ve only seen it used to turn trains round and head back towards London when work’s going on at Epsom (They wait for time outside the house.) I never realised they used it in the reverse direction too - I probably never thought about it to be honest.

The service after the slip before Epsom was run as a single line well beyond me so we didn’t get the waiting outside part, just the horn (I think) as they ran back up the Down and approached the (presumably) man in a tent at the points.

Accompanied by two barrier vehicles either side.
With 458517 in the middle.
However though it did have some graffiti on its side which have occurred sometime in storage.

Each unit that leaves has to have an examination prior. The scope of work includes work on a pit and auxiliary supply used as opposed to live rail, which the latter I don't think Clapham has.

The 3 456s go next week. The 455 is one of the donor units. Probably quite handy having it on 6 road and nip through the side door into the shed. I don’t think any more 455s leave for a while now.

Used to have more at one time.Also used for departmental.Can't remember taking a 159 out of there though.There are stories of drivers taking electric trains down the unelectrified roads in the olden days.

How strange that they have one non-electrified road.

As mentioned, it used to have a lot more, especially when it had an allocation of loco hauled passenger and non-passenger coaching stock. I'd imagine a chunk (if not all) the shed was unelecteified at that time.

It is a little unusual, although not impossible, for sets to be reformed in the sdings at Guildford, so I am not sure what has happened to 455905.
