HST Cabride is still unconfirmed, as that's up to the Driver's.

I'm in the booking office 0900-1330 tomorrow. First class lounge 1330-1430. Announcers office 1430-1700.

I am booked (free) First+Breakfast on the 0825 St Pancras - Sheffield to Derby next Tuesday, spending some time in both the training centre and the control centre, then First Open back down to St. Pancras.

Also going to be on-train staff on a HST set to Sheffield.

Bit of a c*ck up on the 1555. Two tankers left their passes on the train so we couldn't board it. HST service was short formed with a 5 car meridian. Signaller + control got involved so now the tankers are up the sh**ters. Caused problems for everything else as the HST was blocking platform 1. Throw in the FCC driver training runs and we're down to only 2 dedicated platforms entering the peak. Oh, the joy! Also, the Managing Director for Midland Mainline came and spoke to me in the booking office this morning!

We're nice at St. Pancras :)

Platform allocations are posted to the Departure Boards and announced from the control room (Zulu) only after the dispatchers (Charlie) have cleared the train as ready to board. Charlie doesn't announce ANY platforms unless the comms. system is down. Hotel (information and assistance), however, offer the booked platforms, which are, of course, subject to change, particularly during the peak...

Apparantly the Screens also give Headcode of the Train

do mml run a train to bedford in the peak? thought it would of only been fcc, is it just to get a train out the way, or has this service always run, your doing well memorex, hope you get a cab ride there is nothing like it, seeing and hearing all the sounds, if you go in the back cab, dont look out for too long or you will get tunnel vission, and that aint good.

westcoaster -

As MML only have (and will only have) 4 platforms at St. Pancras, we cannot stable ANY trains in the platforms, especially during the peak.
We normally send units to Cricklewood Depot, but it was decided we might make a bit of revenue if we sent it up to Bedford and back, hence the 1 train a day 1608.

Most of the beeping was the signalling panel, also the phone went off, and the alarm at the end was because someone pressed the "emergency" button on the info point IIRC.

Yep, the 1600 is a stopper service, then you get the 1608 Luton + Beford only.

Do you even know why people change at Luton? For services to the north OR the airport! And its Luton Airport Parkway most people change at, so in fact most people don't even change for MML.

By "how many people change at Luton" I meant how many people arriving at St. Pancras have changed from FCC at Luton.

MML also run services to Luton Airport Parkway, although if a customer has just missed a train they are advised to change at Luton for a FCC service - but thats on the way OUT of London.

And whether they change at Luton or Luton Airport, they're still changing onto MML - if they change at the latter they don't leave and FCC to get on another FCC - it's still MML they change onto.

Had a Station Supervisor tell me that Bedford passengers would rather wait 1 hour for an MML than change at Luton for Thameslink.... rules out your "quicker" theory!
