Certainly an interesting thread and whats more interesting is that nobody knows thats going on and time is running out, although we all would like loco hauled it's looking more doubtfull everyday.
I heard a rumour that the line might have top and tail 150s for the summer saturday turns. :-P

I heard 47818 was to be dragged into service on these runs...816 was also heard to be knocking back into shape and dragged down...

However I can't reveal my sources, but they promise me this is going to happen...

To be honest it's guess work and rumours, anyone can guess and between us someone will get it right.
I know someone who signs the route and has done for years and knows of nothing where as normally they would by now, don't mean it won't happen though.
My guess 158s. :?:

I would guess there wouldn't be a press release - there is more of a chance of alterations being posted on the FGW website to train formations.

Surely they'd want to make it public that they will actually be doing something to fight the overcrowding problem. Still, we'll see how things continue. It does sound like things are going well for this one now though.

Really.

What we know so far.
EWS sign a contract to supply and crew? locos for FGW but what route?

What we don't know.
Where are the coaches coming from?
What traction?
What services?
For how long?
When does it start?
Why know one knows (not even staff it seems)?

Why would FGW provide extra seating (or standing space:D) when they have cut it from other services without giving a ****, IE Portsmouth to Cardiff services most are cut from 3 car to 2 car 158s.
Wessex at least tried to provide for it passengers but FGW don't care so although i would love to see 37s,47s or even 67s on the Weymouth route FGW are best known for cutting services rather then providing more seating.
The summer saturdays Weymouth route has been overcrowded for years so it's about time FGW sorted it out on a permenant basis.

Fingers crossed.

As I undestand it fGW have signed a contract to provide loco hauled trains from Bristol to Weymouth on summer saturdays simular to the footexs EWS ran for fGW the other weekend from Bristol to Cardiff using RT Mk2s with 67s so unless 67s are not cleared to Weymouth I guess we can expect to see the same this time...

As 67s are RA 8 and looking at
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse documents/businessplan2007/pdf/route 4 wessex routes.pdf Westbury-Dorchester is RA1-6 so unless 67s are given an expection such as on the WHL it will have to be 37s...

67s have run on the Weymouth route a few times over the last few years so that shouldn't be a problem.

I've just moved the discussion about the Minehead 31s, and put it here. Can we keep this thread for the discussion of Weymouth LHCS please?
