Wires down at Huntingdon - all lines blocked. Obstruction on the line at Diss - all lines blocked.

Its heading South and has potential to cause chaos in the London area.

EMT services across Lincolnshire affected badly. Cancellations either due to objects blocking the line (Sleaford - Grantham affected by fallen power lines) or late running trains delayed elsewhere (Leicester - Nottingham - Newark Castle - Lincoln route). GN/GE joint Line services between Doncaster & Lincoln suspended.

Its heading South and has potential to cause chaos in the London area.

Had a few rather nasty surges of wind earlier (Hatfield, Herts) and heavy pounding rain, so it's not looking too great for the evening peak.

I presume this wasn't as widely predicted as the last storm? Certainly I didn't know anything about it until I heard it talked about on the news earlier today.

....yet the live departures and arrivals on ATW's website says they ARE running, although the Line Updates on the home page states there are no trains on the North Wales Coast! Sort it out ATW!

Are blanket restrictions still in place between Newcastle and York?

No lifted earlier apparently. Northern said so anyway but they could be lying. There is no longer a risk of trees falling onto the line as the wind has died well down now so no need for speed restrictions.

I have a friend who's travelling from York to Abersywyth. He left at Midday, and is now still at Manchester Piccadilly, with no trains to Shrewsbury or Wolverhampton. No one knows what's going on and he's looking at near 12 hours travelling :/

There was a discussion in another thread about how national rail enquiries could be improved. Some people suggested we didn't need more information. I think your post highlights why we do need changes. I'm aware your referring to ATW but I'm sure that feeds into NRE.

Yes, agreed...surely many people will be checking websites and live info these days rather than relying on calling a landline...I'm trying to secure info for my daughter who wishes to travel back from London this evening, confusing to say the least!

When i was at wolves, a whole lot of them were cancelled or extremely late.

When i did go out this morning trains to scotland were still running, Wasn't until i was on the 890 bus and nearly in Wolves it changed to no services running to Scotland.

Have to also say, its the most i've ever used the twitter app as well :P

Might do better to go to Shrewsbury via Chester.
Trains still seem to be running that way.

wonder what happened at balham i was on the 15:43 from victoria to Selhurst earlier and i noticed a Gatwick express was sitting between Wandsworth town and Balham on the Fast towards balham. Our train seemed to have braked rather sharply on the slow lines and crawled into Balham

Between the parallel lines
Serious wheelslip issues on North Downs Line - delays not yet huge but Turbos are running at less than walking pace on several stretches.

East Coast reckon the 1733 from Kings X will get through to Leeds - the first train to manage it since the 1103.

A friend on board says it's been crush loaded since 1721.

They're planning to run the 1803 then nothing else until 2035 then a 2135 and 2330.

They're all expected to take around 40 minutes longer than usual.

This morning both the 0708 and 9811 from Selby to Leeds were shown as cancelled. I was driving tonLeeds in my car, and saw the apparently cancelled 0811 going across Brayton crossing. The Brayton gates then stuck, leaving all on us on the wrong side of crossing stuck. Count to ten time ...
