Well Wales sneak past Italy, England suffer last minute heartache in Paris and Scotland are hammered in Dublin.

Normal Five Nations (whoops make that six):p

Bit of a "double-whammy" for the hopes of Scotland this coming season....

Six Nations................Ireland 28...Scotland 6

Womens Six Nations...Ireland 59...Scotland 0

No need to rub it in

I didn't even realise there was a Womens Six Nations :p

Not just cricket and football these days where the ladies are involved at International level in sport....:D

I suggest the Scottish selectors for their Women's Rugby Team have a tour around the Ferguslie area as there seemed to be plenty of "Big Women" there last time I was in that area.

The best game by far was in Paris. England were very unlucky to lose that one, but it was a typically French performance, a mixture of woeful and sublime.

I'm sorry to say that Scotland look very poor, far worse than italy on the weekend performances. I'm not impressed by the Scottish half backs at all, but there are some good players in the squad so there may be an improvement against England if they can get the tactics and execution right.

Wales looked very rusty as usual in the first game of the tournament against a decent Italy, who could well pull off another couple of surprises this year. A lot of the Welsh players are either not playing much because of selection policies, or are short of match fitness through injury, so I think we will struggle this year. Those still playing in Wales tend to find it a huge step up when they go back to international competition and away from the regions.

Wales weren't in the game against Ireland, the Irish controlled it from the first few minutes. (26-3)

Can't wait for Greenbacks view on this - I don't intend to gloat as I fear for Scotland against England at Murrayfield today - could be a similar tally in Englands favour.

England playing well within themselves beat Scotland 0-20 on a disgrace of a pitch.

Well done Ireland. They produced a game plan to stop Wale sin their tracks, and executed it perfectly.

Mind you, I'm not sure they expected it to be as easy as it was...

It was a very poor pitch, and it is a very poor Scottish team (sorry Butts!). I don't think I have ever seen such a poor Scotland side.

I think the Scots need to find a better half back pairing, Laidlaw and Weir together just doesn't do it for me.

I wonder what the result of the Scotland match against Italy will be if current form continues ?

Italy have been better than their results suggest. Scotland have been as bad as their results suggest.

Italy will win the game!

The old wartime jokes about Italian Tanks ( Five gears - one forward and four reverse) may be applicable to the Scottish Team

In the "kiss of death" statement so often accorded in sport by governing bodies and club owners, Scottish Rugby have made a statement to say that Scotland head coach Scott Johnson "has retained the full support of Scottish Rugby"....

Scott Johnson hasn't achieved much wherever he's been in charge. He is better off as a number two to someone else.

Wales 27...France 6

A much better Welsh performance against a poor French tactical match plan. George North capitalised on a bad French defensive mistake to give Wales an excellent start. French indiscipline saw them with only 13 players for a "sin-bin" period of time.

This result will add a little more emphasis to both sides in today's England v Ireland game (1600 start)

I was disappointed with France. They haven't exactly set the world alight, and England should have won in Paris, but I expected a bit more from them than last night's shambles.

Looking forward to England v Ireland today, should be a very interesting contest!

Yes, but still not up to their hype. Slow and unimaginative for much of the game, but matched by a slow and unimaginative French team. As usual, an early try gave the Welsh the protection they needed.

At least our victory over Italy should mean we avoid the wooden spoon

Throws the championship wide open !!!

Ireland fly-half Jonny Sexton will have great regret about kicking a restart directly into touch, as that mistake led to the subsequent play that led to an England try.

Worcester 12...Sale 24

Mark Cueto of Sale celebrated his 200th league match by scoring a try. It is sad to note that this was the 20th successive defeat for Worcester.

It was a cracking drop goal.

I was disappointed that Ireland didn't win against England. I have always backed the Irish team. It would've been nice to see them win the Grand Slam. Having said that, we've got Italy next, so I'm not giving up. :D

In contrast, Wales were excellent against what has to be one of the poorest French teams I have witnessed in along time. Welsh defending was solid but France were in tatters, which was very uncharacteristic.

Louis Picamoles, the France number eight, has been dropped from the squad to face Scotland as a direct result of his sarcastic behaviour towards a match official in their last match against Wales.

In the Six Nations, with four teams level on four points each after three matches played, it bodes well for the remaining matches.

I agree it does bode well, its all to play for. My predictions for the final 2 rounds will be like this (no score predictions, just a simply who will win)

Ireland v Italy - Ireland
Scotland v France - Scotland
England v Wales - England

Italy v England - England
Wales v Scotland - Wales
France v Ireland - Ireland

So by my predictions it will be a tie at the top between England and Ireland, and I feel it will be Ireland who will be victorious as they have Italy at home

Ireland already have a decent points difference, but it may come down to the final games, with Ireland and England both knowing they need to win by as much as they can!
