Just got my first East Coast print at home tickets. When you view the PDF on screen, the background "watermark" behind some of the information, showing information like destination, Rail Settlement Plan, my name, a ref number, is kind of mid-to-light grey and easily readable.
When I printed it, the "watermark" text is really faint, although the rest of the ticket is fine: the black of the barcodes and print is black and the colour of the East Coast logo looks good.
Is this likely to cause a problem? The small print warns that "This ticket must be clearly printed on plain, clean, white paper" and "Problems with printing will not be the responsibility of National Rail".
Any thoughts or experiences?
Thanks in advance

Does the square barcode look OK? I've never used Print at Home myself but any time I've seen them used the guard seems to scan the barcode without really looking at the ticket, then look at the passenger's ID.

I would avoid print at home tickets unless you really have to.

Problems with printing can render them invalid and you loose a lot of rights you would have if you collected your ticket from a machine before departure.

Yes, as I wrote above, the rest of the ticket including the barcodes is fine - all sharp, and black where it's meant to be black.

Yes, that's why I'm asking. I don't know what "problems with printing" covers. What rights would I lose compared to collect on departure?

ToD tickets can be amended or altered at staffed ticket offices, which is not possible for Print@Home. Also you have added responsibility of providing ID without which the ticket is not valid.

East Coast are better than some as you can at least amend through the website. AFAIK CrossCountry, Chiltern and Virgin don't have this possibility with their equivalents.

There are bonuses though, in that you can reprint the ticket if you lose it, or you could print multiple copies and keep one in your bag and one in your (large) wallet etc.

Got a very quick email back from East Coast customer support. I described the ticket as above, and the answer was "The tickets will be fine for you to use."
+1 to customer support.
