Is it just me that thinks the Cyberman are increasingly starting to resemble The Borg of Star Trek fame? There was mention of a 'hive mind' and the whole idea behind the 'pollen' that one speck can convert an entire person is remarkably similar to the nanites used by The Borg to assimilate someone. Or was that just me?

Or is I'm the only one that knows Star Trek well enough to make that connection around here

Interestingly, we watched Tomb of the Cybermen on the Drama TV channel this afternoon, Mrs G remarked how much scarier they were when they were more human!

Why do the Cyber-leaders no longer have different colours on their heads to signify rank - and not a mention of gold

I suspect the most sensible rationale is that the Cybermen in this episode were created specifically by Missy, and therefore not remotely related to the Cybermen that the Doctor had previously encountered, despite the similarity in appearance (Or perhaps related only to the extent that Missy stole ideas from the 'old' Cybermen', including their appearance, when she was designing the new ones).

At least that's a better rationale than the rather more obvious one, that Stephen Moffat et al are becoming rather too lazy about continuity

I think it;s time Mr Moffat was given a nice rest. He's clearly been overdoing it lately. I found both Sherlock and Doctor Who very disappointing this year (though not as disappointing as Jonathan Creek).

Clearly Steven has been overdoing it, and needs to recharge his creative batteries...a bit like the Cybermen of old had to!

I'm not sure Moffat has ever done as good a job as Davies in terms of running the show. I think Moffat was fantastic for coming in a doing the odd episode or two parter each year. His one-offs were fantastic (weeping angles anyone?) but I don't think he's been good for the day in day out stuff.

I have to agree with you there. He seems to have an imagination, but is less able to bring his visions to the screen than Davies was.

And, of course, a lot of his ideas are based around time travel and most of them end up in leaving me dazed and confused.

I think another part of the issue is that Moffatt only seems to use either "his" creations or "iconic" monsters from the classic series.

I'd quite like to see The Sisters of Plentitude (from New Earth) make a return amongst others.

Similarly it would have been nice if Torchwood could get a mention alongside UNIT every so often.

Well I don't know about bored, but these days I have my daily morning alarm clock set up online to monitor for your posting about Davros - whereupon the alarm goes off. Much more reliable than an old fashioned digital alarm clock! So if you stopped posting about him, I'd probably end up oversleeping every day, and I don't really want that to happen.

Weeping angles? that's not right surely?

I've just caught up, having had a couple of busy weekends.

Previously my favourite story in each series has usually been one of Moffat's.

This series has had weak scripts all the way through - usually there's a good idea in there but i'm fed up with minimal explanation and deus ex machina endings. I think the finale has been been the strongest story but only in comparison with the rest of this series. Wasn't it lucky that the new cybermen took a while to warm up and seem to have the option to turn their own emotions off - or not - enabling them not to follow orders.

Conversely I've rather enjoyed the new Doctor - though thought it was as well he didn't meet up with Chris Addison

If Missy is responsible for getting the Doctor and Clara together, does this mean she's effectively saved hs life?

So what did people think of the Christmas episode?

I thought it was incredibly well written - massively better than anything else we've seen this season. And very full of suspense too.

I caught that they were in a dream fairly early after the attack in the infirmary. It took me a bit longer to cotton that everything in the episode so far had been a dream! On the whole I enjoyed it thought it was good fun. I quite enjoyed them basically coming out and saying 'yeah we ripping our monster design from Alien here'

I thought it lacked Leonardo Dicrapio and a spinning top....
