Trivia: Stations that still have a canopy

A very strange one you may think but here goes, which stations in the UK still have a canopy? I can think of Aberdeen, Arbroath, Dundee, Perth and Crewe, that's 5 to get you started.

Probably far too many in any case, tbh...most of the London termini, Piccadilly, Lime St, Temple Meads, Norwich, Leeds...

I know Montrose used to but that was long ago in the late 70's, early 80's, I think Waverley has some as well but I may be wrong

Paisley Gilmour Street used to have canopies that only covered the platforms. But it was done up a few years ago, and now has a roof that covers the entire station. Well, the middle 6-carriage-lengths of the station. The far ends are still out in the open.

I have to agree with you there. Train shed to me is something that not only cover the platforms but also the tracks, for which there must be hundreds, as to canopies I think they are the ones that just cover the platforms, for which there must be thousands.

Okay might be a slight exaggeration with numbers there but you catch my drift

Canopies or awnings (covering platforms, not track) would be so numerous that it would be like asking for days of the week with the letter Y in them.

I'd presume trainshed (covering tracks and platforms) have to be such that their primary purpose is as a trainshed. There are quite a few stations with other structures on top which means the tracks and platforms are covered for example Birmingham Snow Hill and Birmingham New Street. I'd argue that a multi storey car park or a shopping centre above the platforms do not count.

Not sure how many dedicated train sheds still exist. If you exclude London Terminals which can be taken for granted then few dozen maybe?

One of the stations on the Robin Hood line (can't remember which one) has a train shed which was converted from the old goods shed.

Cockfosters on the London Underground has a rather ugly concrete one. Can't be many tube stations which have a similar setup.

Uxbridge, at the one of the other ends of the Picadilly, has something very similar.

Yes, Filey - still has overall roof. Also Grimsby Town, and Malton.

Driffield has canopies covering the full width of the platforms, but lacks an overall roof.

I'm guessing Wick (20-something thousand) may be the least used?

New Street is underground rather than beneath a train shed. There is a parping great shopping centre on top of the station. It's currently being converted into a large atrium with a smaller (in terms of footprint at least) shopping centre on top. I don't think it counts.

Crewe was mentioned in the original post.

I was at one yesterday, Whitley Bay. An old BR station, now T&W metro, still has a full roof, but the bit immediately above the tracks has had the glazing removed.

What about Bristol Temple Meads if not completely. Definitely Brunel's old train shed closed to trains in the 60s, now Car Park, but to be resurrected.
