Given the scale of improvements which could be forthcoming for the SWML following the completion of Crossrail 2. Is there likely to be any benefit of running some services (say 4tph) into the western half of the tunnels (to say Euston) to enable some improvements to be realised earlier than waiting for the whole route to be available?

OK then:

I doubt it. It would probably make far more sense to, like CR1, build the tunnel section in one go

I think what's being referred to, is not for the staggered completion of tunnel and infrastructure, but prioritising the connection to the mainline at Wimbledon before the 'northern' routes are operating.

The first service to operate through the core on Crossrail '1' will be the Paddington-Abbey Wood route. I read that the mainline branches require more of a lead-in time due to the complexities of the signalling crossover between TfL and Network Rail lines at Paddington and Stratford portals.

I imagine this may be similar to how service will be introduced on the [presumed operationally independent] Wimbledon-New Southgate route. However way they choose to tackle the challenge on Crossrail 2, I'd hope they learn from experience on the current project; rather not push for an aggressive schedule which could risk unreliability or disruption in the months following.

My understanding is that whatever the frequency on Crossrail 2, it will all go branch to branch. I don't think there are any plans for a turnback facility at Wimbledon. I might be wrong/they might not have specified it yet though.

Quite. If by prioritising the completion phasing it could be possible to remove the services into Waterloo in steps (first step being that suggested above - running say 4tph from one or two SWT's services into the tunnels with a turn back at Euston) which could then enable SWT's to provide stepped improvements to services on the SWML (with options including increasing the frequency of some metro services in advance of the full opening of Crossrail 2 or increasing frequency of longer distance services to places like Salisbury, Portsmouth or Southampton depending on passenger loading and network capacity).
