Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
It would seem so, as at Halifax Junction, the line leading off from the GEML has become noticeably overgrown in recent months, and today there appeared to be some debris blocking said line as my 360 passed by the junction. A cursory search on Realtime Trains suggests there's no booked services down said branch at present.

Was a train on the branch the last time I was up there about a fortnight or so ago.

No it is in regular use. Just since Felixstowe upgrade it has no container traffic.

A cursory search of the FMonline timetables ;) shows that there
is a weekly sand train to Watford Junction on Mondays:

- 6Z56 04:30 Acton yard to Ipswich Griffin Wharf (07:30)
- 6M57 12:00 Ipswich Griffin Wharf - Watford
