Is anyone else planning to buy on the day? It mentions on the DRS website it costs £5 to buy on the door. I am imagining it won't be that busy that I could be turned away.

Yes I am going, and tried to buy on line, but after about 20 minutes of searching on the DRS website I gave up.

It says to buy from their webshop, but when you go in there, they are not to be found anywhere, so banking on getting in on the day.

I believe you could purchase tickets in advance online but they sold out a few weeks ago.

Do you mean just the online tickets sold out?
Will there still be some available on the day?

Advanced online ticket sales have now closed however tickets can be purchased on the day of the event.

Thank you for the kind offer but I cannot guarantee what time I will be at Carlisle so someone else can take you up on your offer :)

As open days go - this was better then nothing - beggars cannot be choosers !
The full range of DRS locomotives was on display and carriages also.

There was little else though.

Gripes ? - AYE !... No Programme, No Beer and No Transport laid on from Citadel Station ('Kerchingfinder' Tours participants excepted).
On the latter account - the local road leading to the Depot entrance / driveway - was 'chokka' ! This being on account of both the local residents parking their cars on the public highway AND early rising Anoraks with their own wheels !!

Could have done better, but, not complaining - really ;) !

Jeez, I’d hate to bump into you when you are complaining.

Put another way: a rare chance to go round a depot and speak to helpful and informative staff. Every class of loco DRS operate present. The first ScotRail livery loco for over a decade brought in especially. Their shiny new large logo toy positioned well for photography. A new livery unveiled. A decent amount of cash raised for charity. A bus ran from a few yards from the railway station to a few yards from the depot entrance, with larger buses than usual operating on the route.
