WCRC class 37 Working

West Coast's 37706 operated a round trip cycle from Lover's Walk to Hove via Redhill and Guildford yesterday and it appeared to be a track recording run of some kind, given the equipment mounted on the front. Can anyone confirm the purpose of the working?

Was it the RILAS (?) equipment. A kind of triangle structure fixed to the front of the locomotive?

I cant find the explanatory website just now
