Would a Brexit solve the price of high rents in the London area? Builders want also earn a living; so why built cheap houses. For the price of 1 parkingspace you can buy a house in the Netherlands. It also seems that your government gave less money to the healthdepartment.

Remain getting slayed on the tv debate.
Their promise to be a bit less confrontational and abusive lasted less than 5 mins.

Heseltine on the radio today said we will join the Euro, we will have a European army, the EU will become one country eventually as that has always been the plan. This is refreshing honesty from a dedicated Euro fanatic

This comes from an 83 year old person who stood down from his constituency of Henley-on-Thames some 15 years ago in 2001 and has not actively been involved in the cutting edge of politics in recent times. He may well espouse those stated views, but these are only his personal opinions.

One good thing in his favour was that he was educated at Shrewsbury School.

Norway has a smaller population than London. Their GDP is a fraction of the UK's.

Britain has a far, far stronger hand than Norway or Switzerland did.

Can I ask politely if you've done much research on this? Norway and Switzerland are both in the single market. Norway and Switzerland are both part of Schengen. Norway and Switzerland both accept free movement of people and goods.

Is that what you want for the UK?

(BTW, I want to remain, but in the event of the UK leaving the EU this is exactly what I want and what I will be voting for)

Possibly but unlikely. There is still a shortage of supply and there is no reason to believe foreign ownership would decrease. For fairness could you get a house in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Den Haag for the price of a London parking space? The lack of housing is an entirely different topic but it's not a problem that will be solved by an exit of the EU.

The health department one is interesting as leave say that any money saved by leaving could go into the NHS. 6 years of Tory finance tells me this is unlikely.

Leave's media campaign has been very good. Not in terms of content but more like bleating it over and over to both hope some sticks and to block out criticism. Today's metro had a cover saying we should leave - no paper should be allowed to explicitly favour one side.

The point is that just because Norway and Switzerland signed up to Schengen and the free movement of people it doesn't mean that an independent Britain would have to.

I personally would not want us to sign up to Schengen.

we will have a European army

We won't. This is entirely a fantasy invented by a fevered Brexiter. But isn't it rather a good idea? Donald Trump wants to spend less defending NATO allies, there are threats on Europe's borders. Wouldn't a European army make sense?

1. The fact that Norway and Switzerland signed up to Schengen meant that they accepted the major principles of the single market and were able to join. What makes anyone think that the UK will be allowed to pick and choose?

2. Britain is an independent nation.

3. If it was the only way to get a free trade deal, would you sign up to Schengen?

4. What do you want?

The UK and Ireland have an opt out from Schengen so a vote to remain would not compel us to open our borders. The same applies to the Euro.

The point is more than Norway and Switzerland want trade with the EU and so have to accept their terms. The UK economy is bigger but still not big enough to allow it to dictate to the EU without at least some form of negotiation.

So far the leave's campaign to economics seems to have boiled down to: we're big enough, and the EU desparate enough, to acquiesce to most, if not all, of our demands.

Yes, I've thought about it. But I'm not going to.
So, seeing as you were watching, I thought I'd ask, that's all.

Railops probably can't explain why remain are getting slaughtered because it's most likely his own opinion and not supported by fact.

Somebody decides to watch football but wants me to give them a rundown on what's happening on the opposite side how bizarre.

Remain have a very poor line-up - Khan who keeps getting booed, a gobby Tory bird from Scotland nobody has heard of and The dopey TUC woman who is on the verge of crying.

What a question ? have you thought of turning over.

What Damascene moment are you expecting to occur with just over a day to go that has not already been thrust down the unwilling throats of the electorate.

I for one would rather watch the usual trite episodes of Pointless, Bargain Hunt and Homes Under the Hammer (this is said tongue-in-cheek) rather than be subjected to attempted brainwashing broadcasts that masquerade as public information broadcasting and are naught but an opportunity for certain individuals to keep their public image to the fore.

Being of sound mind and body, I am spending my time perusing the threads on the most excellent RailUK website.

That wasn't hard, was it? Your clearly well-balanced description of the debate has managed to make me change my view completely, and I will be now voting leave on the 23rd.

Exactly. I'm not expecting to learn anything new, so I might as well watch something I'll get some enjoyment out of. They're missing a pretty good game :D

I'm watching the football too, but was just talking to someone who saw some of the debate. No doubt you will want to hear my views on what happened.

Remain have a very poor line-up - Khan who keeps getting booed,

I heard that Khan was good. Johnson, on the other hand, was described to me as "shifty".

a gobby Tory bird from Scotland

Quite the gentleman, aren't you? Do women in positions of authority intimidate you?

nobody has heard of

I think you mean that you haven't heard of her. I'm sure some people have. Don't listen to Michael Gove - ignorance is not something to be proud of.

and The dopey TUC woman who is on the verge of crying.

Was she really on the verge of crying? That seems unlikely. Dopey? I doubt it.You seem to have a rather worrying attitude towards women.

Excellent, an educated and very informed view of the tv debate by someone who didn't bother to watch it, priceless just priceless.

No I certainly don't want to hear second hand what the bloke next door thought about it at all.

I can understand that, but actually he wasn't next door. However, you might have spotted that my comments were more focussed on your review than the debate.

I don't *want* you to, I asked you if you could explain or support your 'Remain getting slayed' comment.
If you don't wish to, well.....*shrug*.

Yeah, why not. Perhaps the £350m a day from leaving the EU can fix it?

At this rate, it'll be £350 million a minute by the time Referendum Day arrives, rather than the £140 million per week that is more like the real figure. Still, if this sort of garbage gets BoJo into no. 10 as the frontman it'll all have been worthwhile, right?

On the topic of Boris, I saw earlier that he'd said he would go on TV and apologise if the economy enters recession if vote leave win.

"I'm sorry that you can no longer afford your mortgage, but at least you've now got the the conservative government and their long term economic plan to look after you!"

Am I understanding this correctly? You have changed the way you were going to vote on the basis of one post by Railops?

I watched the football, I try and avoid any debates on the referendum, it's all been said and done, roll on tomorrow and lets get it all over and done with. Nobody knows which way it's going to go so predictions are totally pointless!

Alan Sugar telling British Gisela Stuart that she shouldn't tell us British what we should do as she's German has hardly rated a mention.
If Farage or Johnson had said it about a Remainer the BBC would have been falling over themselves.
