There's an ASDA three minutes from Colchester, and a Morrisons about five from Witham. Hythe has a Tesco just over the level crossing.

Surely Gerrards Cross's Tesco should be given a special mention. Everybody who uses that route will be well aware of its existence.

Also, Colchester Town is about five minutes away from an Aldi and Clacton-on-Sea is about eight from a Lidl. If you want to eat pretentiously, Marks Tey is five minutes walking from The Food Company.

Leyland is about 10 minutes away from a Morrisons.

Buckshaw Parkway is next to a Tesco.

I'd imagine there are scores, especially if you consider the 'metro' supermarkets in city centres. As for towns, would I be right in thinking that a lot of land sold off for development by BR eventually became supermarkets?

I'll throw out a pattern for you just because:

Aylesbury (Morrisons)
Banbury (Morrisons)
Leamington Spa (Morrisons)
Stratford upon Avon (Morrisons)
