Best ticket(s) for London Paddington - Hungerford - Cholsey - London Paddington

I want to buy tickets for two adults with a Two Together Railcard.

I want to travel this Saturday around midday from London Paddington to Hungerford. On Sunday morning I want to travel from Hungerford to Cholsey. On Sunday afternoon I want to travel from Cholsey to London Paddington.

I really can't figure out what the cheapest ticket (perhaps to a destination for which London Paddington via Hungerford or via Cholsey would be valid routes?) or combination of return and single tickets to buy, since there seem to be many combinations. Advice would be gratefully received! Thanks.

Probably a London to Hungerford Off Peak Return (SVR) plus a Reading Stns to Cholsey Off Peak Day Return (CDR).

Great, thank you. I realise on second thoughts that buying a return ticket from London Paddington to somewhere like Trowbridge and trying to use it for all my journeys wouldn't have stood up to scrutiny!

It would have been OK if you actually went Hungerford-Trowbridge-Cholsey, taking advantage of the permission for an overnight break of journey on a Super Off-Peak, but
(1) it would cost £15 or so more and
(2) you might struggle to find trains on a Sunday morning anyway.

Have you considered purchasing a 3 Day Thames Rover.

Using the Two Together railcard, this works out at £30.70 each, and will cover all the journeys you want to make this coming weekend.

Although this will cost slightly more (around £3.50 each) than previously suggested ticket combinations, it does give you far greater flexibility on where you can travel if you have time.

If you were to buy the ticket on Saturday, then it will still be valid on Monday, so again if you are both free that day you can make use of effectively a free days travel to The Cotswolds, Basingstoke, Banbury, Guildford, Redhill, Henley, Marlow, Windsor etc.
